Candy corn cookies
1 stick of butter
187.5 ml powered sugar
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 egg
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups flour
red food colouring
yellow food colouring
Directions
- Cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla and continue to beat until incorporated.
- In another bowl whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Add dry ingredients to the butter sugar mixture and mix until a soft dough just forms.
- Remove dough from mixer bowl and separate into 3 equal pieces. Mix a little bit of red and yellow food colouring together to make orange, then add the orange to one of the 3 pieces of dough. Make another piece of dough yellow and leave the last one plain.
- Place a piece of plastic wrap inside a loaf pan, pat down the white dough in the bottom, place the orange on top and pat down firmly, and last pat the yellow dough on top. Remove from pan and wrap up dough and refrigerate dough overnight or for at least 4 hours.
- When you are ready to bake cookies, Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Cut 1/4th inch slices down the width of the dough, and cut each slice into triangles.
- Place triangles on a lined baking sheet and bake for 6-8 minutes, until tops are puffy and bottoms are golden.
